Continuing our journey to make a positive contribution to Social Value through our various projects, we invited a number of schools and community groups into the Jersey Opera House throughout April, to witness first hand the refurbishment work taking place.
Les Quennevais Year 10 and 11 DEC students were given a talk on the various careers available in construction by Site Manager Kieran O’Connor, followed by an educational tour of the site. The students were particularly interested in efforts to decarbonise the building, given the strong focus on sustainbility within their course. They will be visiting again towards the end of the year to see the progress made and how the project looks as it nears completion.
A number of younger children from Rouge Bouillon Year 5 and 6 also visited the site to see first hand the refurbishments taking place. They are now working on artwork that has been inspired by their visit and we can’t wait to see what they come up with!
In addition, we welcomed Just Move Dance school to see the facilites that they will have access to on completion. As the future users of the theatre we hope that they left feeling excited to perform here in future, and confident that this retoration will provide a theatre to be proud of for generations to come.
